Our story began in December 2016, back in high school when Payton slid into his DMs, and a simple message quickly turned into a friendship that stuck. From the very beginning, we became best friends. Bonding over basketball, spending time with each other’s families, and just choosing to be together came easily long before we ever thought about what the future might look like.
We’ve always joked that we’re a classic opposites-attract couple: an extrovert usually needs someone to alance them out, and in our case, that means Elijah holding the purse while Payton chats it up everywhere she goes. That balance has carried them through every stage of life together. From high school graduations and career changes to moving to a new state so Payton could pursue her PhD, they have always supported each other’s goals and passions.
At the core of their relationship is a shared foundation built on friendship, family, and faith. In 2024, Payton and Elijah took an important step together by converting to Catholicism, choosing to continue growing side by side in what matters most to them.
We may not be overly sentimental, but our love has always shown itself through consistency. We choose each other every day, support big dreams, and stay grounded in what truly matters. From a DM in 2016 to the life we are building now, our story is one of partnership, balance, and growing forward together.

The
PROPOSAL
Christmas Eve at Payton’s parents’ house is never a quiet event. It is full of twinkling lights, great food, and a lot of laughter. This year felt especially magical. The house looked like a Hallmark movie and everyone was dressed up for what was called “family Christmas pictures.” In between pictures, jokes, and holiday music, Elijah chose his moment. In front of the people who have been part of our story from the beginning, he got down on one knee and asked the question that starts forever.
Then came the detail that made the moment even more meaningful. He proposed with Payton’s grandmother’s ring, a beautiful piece of family history and love that now gets to continue its story with us. That was when it all really sank in. The answer was an easy and very happy “yes.”
It was joyful, a little emotional, and completely us. Family, friends, Christmas lights, and even Milo there to witness it all. The best gift that year was not under the tree. It was the start of our next chapter together. We cannot wait to celebrate our marraige with all of you!
